Duty of Care
At SoliDEO, teachers and staff have a special role in noticing when a student may be at risk. Caring for children is a shared responsibility, and every member of the SoliDEO community is expected to act when concerns arise. This includes not only teachers and staff, but also parents, helpers, drivers, security personnel, and students
Purpose of the Policy
The SoliDEO Child Protection Approach ensures:
- A clear framework for recognizing and reporting abuse or neglect
- Regular training for staff on child safeguarding practices
- Open communication and shared responsibility across the whole community
- Safe recruitment procedures and clear standards for adult conduct
- Accessible pastoral care and student support services
Our policy promotes prevention, protection, and support:
- Prevention: Creating a school culture that is safe, respectful, and inclusive
- Protection: Implementing clear procedures and equipping staff to respond effectively
- Support: Providing counseling and care for students and families in need
Reporting a Concern
If you suspect a child may be at risk of harm, it is your duty to report it whether you are a teacher, staff member, student, or parent.
You may report a concern in one of the following ways:
- By name or anonymously
- Confidentiality is protected to the extent appropriate
